Traffic is moving freely again on the B3

The completion of the surface renovation on the B3, which was actually only planned for next Friday, was completed over the weekend. This means that the regional diversion via the town centers of St. Georgen/Gusen and Luftenberg has also been lifted. Up to 24,000 vehicles are on the road on the B3 section in the west of the Perg district every day. Due to this high load, the road, which was built in the late 1980s, is already heavily worn in some areas. After the general renovation of bridges last year, another renovation phase followed this year from August 16th.

“Thanks to the rapid construction process, the newly renovated and modern infrastructure can be released a week earlier,” said State Councilor for Infrastructure Günther Steinkellner (FP) in a broadcast. This rapid completion of the construction site was made possible by the simultaneous use of up to three asphalt finishers with so-called feeders. These are used as a link between the truck and the asphalt paver: They can pick up several truckloads of asphalt mix and pass it on to the pavers on a conveyor belt. This enables the asphalt layer to be paved without interruption. In addition, two construction lots were merged and completed in one comprehensive measure.

In the coming year, a further renovation step is to be taken on the B3 with the safety upgrade in Langenstein. In addition to the surface renovation, the renovation of six bridges and the construction of new noise protection elements over a length of 750 meters are also planned.
