Intensive search for suspects in the murder of 10 people

Responding to emergency calls, the police found ten bodies in the indigenous community of James Smith Cree Nation and in the neighboring city of weldonin the province of SaskatchewanDeputy Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Rhonda Blackmore, told the press.

“Several additional victims were injured, 15 of whom were taken to various hospitals,” he explained. “We are actively looking for the two suspects,” and “investigating the various crime scenes,” she stressed.

The suspects were identified as Damian Sanderson Y Myles Sanderson, 30 and 31 years old respectively, both with black hair and brown eyes. They are believed to have fled in a black Nissan Rogue, Blackmore said. Police agents were deployed “at full speed” to capture them.

Blackmore said police received a first call at 05:40 local time (08:40 Argentine time) reporting a stabbing in the James Smith Cree Nation, quickly followed by several more calls reporting other attacks like this one.

The callers identified the suspects, the official said.

The James Smith Cree Nation community, population 2,500, declared local state of emergency. Saskatchewan residents were also asked to stay indoors for safety.

In recent years, Canada experienced a succession of attacks of unusual violence. In April 2020, a gunman posing as a police officer killed 22 people in New Scotland.

In 2018, a pickup truck driver hit pedestrians on torontokilling 10 and wounding 16 more.

And in January 2017, six people were killed and five injured in attacks on a mosque in quebec.
