VP General Secretary Laura Sachslehner is pushing for this – and is targeting the Green coalition partners at federal level: “Transport Minister Leonore Gewessler and ÖBB should expand the public transport network, not restrict it,” says Sachslehner.
If the ÖBB Railjets stopped stopping in Vöcklabruck, a populous economic center would be cut off from the ÖBB high-speed network, says Sachslehner. “Thousands of train passengers would suddenly have to rely on their cars again.” Public transport should be dear to Gewessler’s heart.
The city of Vöcklabruck had also reacted indignantly. The loss of the train connection would be a disaster for Vöcklabruck as a business and school location, criticized Mayor Peter Schobesberger (SP).
