Not everyone gets this plaque on the garden fence. Herta and Raimund Mayr, as well as Lotte and Franz Karner, completely dispense with non-natural sprays and fertilizers in their gardens and mix only organic compost and not a crumb of peat into the soil of their beds.
In the gardens of the two families, insect hotels and wooden boxes with many holes and crevices buzz and buzz. The flowers are only watered with water from the rain barrels.
For this exemplary organic gardening, the Mayrs and Karners received a visit from Mayor Christian Haberhauer (VP), Environmental Councilor Michaela Pfaffeneder (VP) and landscape architect Christian Winkler, who presented the couple with the “Nature in the Garden” plaque. The recipients then immediately nailed the plaques to their fences.
