The total number of active confirmed infections nevertheless fell by 2,818 compared to Monday, the Interior and Health Ministries reported. The number of hospital patients with Corona also fell slightly to 939. 4,247 new infections exceeded the average of 4,063 over the past seven days, the seven-day incidence is now 315 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
These infections were detected with the help of 133,696 rapid PCR and antigen tests, of which 101,873 were PCR tests. Broken down by federal state, there were 118 new confirmed cases in Burgenland, 196 in Carinthia and 910 in Lower Austria. Upper Austria reported 492 positive test results, Salzburg 206, 476 in Styria, 317 in Tyrol, 107 in Vorarlberg and 1,425 in Vienna.
As of Tuesday there were 58,342 active cases, since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,931,352 confirmed infections, 4,853,555 people have recovered since then, 7,052 within 24 hours. There were 939 people in the hospital with Covid-19, 24 fewer than the day before. 54 people were cared for in intensive care units, nine fewer than on Monday and 15 fewer within a week. On a seven-day average, 6.9 people died every day, there were a total of 48 deaths in the past week and, according to this data, 19,455 since the outbreak of the pandemic.
6,057 vaccinations were carried out on Monday, including 5,039 booster vaccinations, the total number was below the seven-day average of 7,914. 58.9 percent of people in Austria are validly vaccinated according to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG), and 513,190 people have received a booster vaccination so far.
