Two sailors rescued from Lake Attersee

A moment of shock for two water sports enthusiasts on Lake Attersee near Litzlberg: their sailing boat capsized. The two were able to save themselves on the hull of the sailing boat and wait for the water rescue. After being alerted by members of the sailing club, who may have observed the incident from the shore, she was quickly on site and helped the two of them get dry.

“A gust must have hit the boat,” suspects Marcel Thurnhofer from the Litzlberg water rescue service. The two men are experienced sailors who have trained for a regatta. They were accordingly equipped with life jackets.

“The Attersee has its pitfalls, it often happens very quickly, especially with smaller sailing boats,” says Thurnofer, who has been with the water rescue service since 2014. The damaged boat was recovered by the water rescue service and brought ashore. The operation lasted approximately two hours. The two men escaped with a shock and a little cold, Thurnhofer said.
