how the conflict continues 200 days after the russian invasion

“The liberation of the towns in the districts of Kupiansk and Izium, in the Kharkov region, continues,” the Ukrainian Army said this Sunday, coinciding with the 200 days since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the AFP news agency reported.

The Russian Army announced last night a redeployment of its forces from Kharkov to the Donetsk region, further south, to concentrate their movements there.

The message from Russia

Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, warned Ukraine that the delays in the process of negotiations between the two countries in the context of the war, which is now 200 days old, complicate the prospect of an agreement.

“We do not give up negotiations. Those who do must understand that, as they delay this process, the more difficult it will be to reach an agreement”Lavrov told the Rossiya 1 television channel.

Both countries held several rounds of negotiations to reach an agreement to end the war, but the last one was on March 29 in the Turkish city of Istanbul behind closed doors, the Russian news agency Sputnik recalled.

The head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinski, reported after the meeting that Ukraine had submitted a series of proposals in which it agreed not to join military alliances, including NATO, in exchange for security guarantees from various states.

However, Lavrov denounced on April 7 that the preliminary draft of a peace agreement presented by Ukraine contained clauses different from the proposals made in Istanbul.

In mid-May, Russian President Vladimir Putin called “practically suspended” the negotiating process between Russia and Ukraine, and said that kyiv “is not interested in a serious and constructive dialogue”.
