“We didn’t let the rain spoil our mood”

For three days at the weekend there was a colorful program in the center of the fourth largest city in Upper Austria, and the seventh edition of the format presented by the OÖNachrichten again attracted many visitors – despite the moody weather.

“We didn’t let the rain spoil our mood,” says Siegl and laughs. The weather forecast would have looked much gloomier at first. “So we actually got really lucky.” In any case, the awning on the town square has proven itself – this quickly served well as a huge rain protection.

The demonstrations by the clubs, including the ÖTB Leonding and the marching dance group of the Eili-Scho carnival guild, were a magnet for visitors again this time, and they found their stage in front of the Leonding town hall. Another highlight was the “operations” of the emergency organizations in Michaelsbergstrasse. It wasn’t just the children who were amazed when the fire brigade responded with blue lights and sirens to put out a simulated house fire.

New attraction Ferris wheel?

According to Siegl, it is particularly nice to observe the togetherness at the city festival – from the showmen to the innkeepers and clubs to the shopkeepers who made their parking spaces available for the hustle and bustle. Because only the many helping and supporting hands would make the city festival – as the people of Leonding know and love – possible in the first place.

This could come up next year with a very special innovation. Discussions are already underway that a Ferris wheel should round off the Leonding range in the future.

An idea that prompted a great deal of approval and enthusiasm from many visitors. “We’ll stay tuned, that would certainly be an eye-catcher,” says Siegl. This would also offer the perfect opportunity to look at Leonding from above.
