LINZ. Two points from the first six games – that’s the result of newly promoted Putzleinsdorf in the Landesliga Ost. Those responsible at the club could foresee that going one floor up would not be easy for the champions from the district league north. “The pace and the intensity are completely different than in the district league,” says sports director Alexander Mager. “You don’t get any gifts, you have to work brutally hard for everything.” You also had to experience this on Saturday: 1:1 against SC Marchtrenk.

The district league south climbers Schlierbach and Gschwandt also made a false start in the west. “Since we don’t have the resources that many other clubs in this league have, it was foreseeable that we would find it very difficult. We remain true to our line of relying on our own unpaid players and will continue to step on the gas,” says Schlierbach Sports director Ewald Hollinger. Yesterday’s duel against Peuerbach was canceled. Gschwandt isn’t getting going either: “We hope that we can hold onto the league in the end,” said coach Ivica Sirocic after the 4-1 loss to Bad Schallerbach. With a strong nine points, St. Marienkirchen holds after the 3-0 against Schalchen.

Oedt 1b as a real exception

A promoted team, on the other hand, is considered the measure of all things in the Landesliga Ost: Askö Oedt 1b celebrated their fifth win in five games in a 1-0 win against Admira Linz.

But the Trauner are not a normal climber: club president Franz Grad made it clear at the beginning of the season that his second team, which is also peppered with top kickers, should play at the front.
