“Servus Peter”: Peter Grimberg performs in the theater of his childhood town

STEYR. Peter Grimberg has found the role of his life. After the heart Austrian of the Germans, Peter Alexander, died in 2011, the pop singer took over his musical legacy, slipped into the waiter’s tails and successfully toured theaters and concert halls with his adaptation of the “Weißes Rössls”. With the homage “Servus Peter”, at the premiere of which Waltraut Haas appeared as a star guest, the German of Austrian origin will be making a guest appearance on September 23 at 7.30 p.m. in the Stadttheater Steyr, the playhouse of the city of his childhood.

Grimberg was born in Steyr on May 9, 1962, went to elementary school here before returning to Germany with his parents and siblings at the age of ten, especially since his father came from the Ruhr area. As a teenager, Grimberg had a crush on Elvis Presley, the rock ‘n’ roller. The apprentice car mechanic found his duplicate by German standards, the Viennese Peter Alexander with a bit of revolutionaryism and even more humor, just as great. However, the oil-soiled overalls were not to remain Grimberg’s work clothes, but a tuxedo and gala suit. In 1990 he dared to run for Rudi Carrell’s “The Golden Microphone” after having imitated all American rock ‘n’ roll singers on local stages. In the song “Reet Petite” (the theme song of the ORF program Money Maker) Grimberg transformed from a mechanical engineer in a construction site container to the return of the US singer Jackie Wilson, who died in 1984. The successful performance prompted Carrell to bring Grimberg, who also continued to admire Peter Alexander, into his team. Since 2011, Grimberg has embodied the unforgettable entertainer from Vienna in films and live performances.
