Both actions took place between Sunday and Monday in central and northern Colombia, at the end of a bloody weekend that also left a union leader assassinated by hit men.

In Landazuria town of 9,000 inhabitants in the department of Santander, the community reacted angrily to the murder of a teacher, his wife, and their 20- and 13-year-old children in the early hours of Sunday. The residents accused five Venezuelans of multiple crimes and lynched them.

“We regret that these people had ended the life of Professor Álvaro Díaz, his wife and their two children… It was a barbaric, bloodthirsty and very cruel act,” he said Marlon Ballenmayor of the municipality, to the Caracol newscast.

The second incident occurred in the early hours of Monday in the city of Barranquilla, the largest in the Colombian Caribbean, where six people were shot to death while conversing in a bar. Both violent episodes leave at least 15 dead and four injured, in addition to an “attempted riot” in Landazuriaccording to official reports.

Among the deceased in Barranquilla “there are three who have tattoos alluding to Los Costeños”, a drug gang that would have stolen a considerable amount of cocaine from the Clan led by the extradited OthnielColonel Oscar Daza, commander in charge of the port police, told the media.
