Around 4500 visitors came to the 30th local image fair on Sunday, where Upper Austrian municipalities presented innovative village and urban development projects for lively centres. The community of St. Marienkirchen and the local associations presented themselves as excellent hosts, who put together a colorful program and provided the visitors with delicacies from the region.
After the premiere last year, the OÖ. Townscape Prize awarded for the second time. The state winner was Katsdorf with the project “Community center in the courtyard”. The municipal office, crèche, event hall, music rehearsal rooms and commercial space were built on the site of the former agricultural school. The prize money was 5000 euros. The quarter victory in the Hausruckviertel was won by Puchkirchen am Trattberg for the Power Tower, a 25 meter high viewing tower with a climbing wall and for the G’schäftl, which is run by a citizens’ cooperative.
The three “most loyal” exhibiting municipalities were also honored for the anniversary: Engelhartszell, Mitterkirchen im Machland and Hinterstoder were represented 29 and 28 times respectively at local image fairs.
