Some monstrances, crucifixes and chalices may be magnificently designed, but they do not want to express the power of the church, but the preciousness of some mysteries of faith. With this in mind, the abbot of Kremsmünster Abbey, Ambros Ebhart, had the “Wunderkammer” of the Benedictine monastery curated and redesigned by the art historian Andreas Gamerith. “We try not only to present the artifacts of the past as objects of artistic value, but also to give them a meaning that is also relevant to 21st-century spirituality,” said Gamerith, whose research focus is Baroque art is. Gamerith will explain his ideas about how the “Wunderkammer” will be presented from now on in the lecture “Added value faith in Kremsmünster Abbey” on Friday, September 30th at 8 p.m. in the winter hall. Afterwards, a visit to the Wunderkammer is planned.
