Serbian government bans Europride in Belgrade

According to the ministry, to which the Serbian media refer, the ban also applies to the demonstrations planned by Europride opponents at the same time. According to the ministry, there would be a risk of “violence, destruction of property and other forms of disruption to public order on a large scale”.

Most recently, extreme nationalist organizations and Serbian-Orthodox church groups had mobilized against the Europride parade. President Aleksandar Vucic had already announced a ban on the homosexual parade at the end of August.

However, organizers do not want to do without

However, the Belgrade Europride organizers then let it be known that they did not want to do without the parade. According to this, around 15,000 people should take part. Europride week kicked off in Belgrade with a series of indoor events on Monday.
