The footage of the man’s action quickly spread across the internet. There were calls for the man to be arrested. Saudi Arabia bans Muslim pilgrims in Mecca from shouting slogans or carrying banners. In addition, according to Muslim regulations, an Omra may be performed for deceased Muslims, but not for non-Muslims. The Queen was at the head of the Christian Anglican Church.
State-run Saudi Arabian media reported on the incident and the controversial video clip. The banner was only blurred to see. The Queen died in Scotland last Thursday and her funeral is scheduled for September 19 in London.
