“By 2030, all of our company’s products and locations should be completely climate-neutral”: Christian Peneder, Managing Director of the company of the same name, named this ambitious goal yesterday at a press conference at the Fraham location (district of Eferding). The family company based in Atzbach, which has been around for more than 100 years, specializes in fire protection doors and gates as well as architecture and construction for industrial and commercial buildings.
Wood chips instead of gas
Eleven million euros have been invested in modernizing production in Fraham since 2018. Since the beginning of the year, the powder coating oven has been fired with wood chips from the region. The building is heated with the resulting waste heat. Gas was used before. In addition, the facade of the boiler house was naturally greened: This measure is intended to improve the microclimate and bind CO2. In addition, green electricity has been sourced from KWG in Rüstdorf since 2018.
The building in Atzbach also has a biomass-based heating and cooling system and a heat recovery system. According to Peneder, the two locations save 441 tons of CO2 every year. In the 2021/22 financial year (as of March 31), 400 employees generated sales of 104 million euros (2020: 101 million euros) according to the company register.
