“People just want to have fun again, you can tell,” said Ried’s trade fair director Helmut Slezak yesterday afternoon during a tour of the amusement park. On one of the last late summer days of the year, thousands of visitors streamed into the exhibition center from 3 p.m. “This is a very good start, it can continue like this. 91 exhibitors are here, that’s more than at the last Oktoberfest in 2018,” said Slezak. “A visit to the folk festival is a must. We’ve already ridden the ghost train, the chain carousel and the Ferris wheel,” said Levi and Noah Hauser, who came to the children’s afternoon with Mama Isabella and Grandma Marianne.

Classic rides such as the Break Dance, Autodrom or Tagada were very well filled in the afternoon.

Rieder Walter Reichinger came to the Oktoberfest with his two grandsons, Simon and Tobias. A visit is simply part of it, said the trio during a short breather in the large gastro zone in the covered Red Zac Arena.

In the evening, prominent politicians from Rieder officially tapped the beer in the marquee, which offers space for 1,700 visitors.

Today and Friday it starts at 3 p.m. with free admission. The amusement park opens at 1 p.m. on Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
