Together with Landeshauptfrau-Stv. Stephan Pernkopf (VP) tapped Mayor Lukas Michlmayr (VP) on Thursday evening, but not in the usual beer mood. The mayor is still hungover from an “inexcusable huge mistake,” as he let the crowd know after his opening speech for the Hague Volxfest. The confession and the confession took place when the matter was already public and already dominated the regulars’ tables.
Michlmayr probably looked too deeply into the glass at the “Most Meets Wine” tasting on Amstett’s main square two weeks ago, which was organized by the Amstettner ÖVP. Party grandees from National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka, district party chairman Andreas Hanger, state councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister to the regional state parliament deputies toasted each other at the party event, which was also attended by the VP mayors from the district. The party lasted until just before midnight, according to the “Mostropolis” website.
Michlmayr drove home earlier and got behind the wheel around 10 p.m. A few minutes later, on the Westautobahn, he was noticed by a police patrol as a speeder. The officials stopped the speeding driver and asked him to do an alcohol test. It went positively. Michlmayr, who, contrary to his frank admission (“I never drank any schnapps”), did not disclose his blood alcohol level, must have been impaired by at least 0.8 per thousand. Otherwise the police would not have taken his driver’s license.
Michlmayr, who apologized for his mistake and thanked his wife in the beer tent for supporting and driving him despite everything, will remain in office. No one in the VP called for his resignation at either the community or district level: “I have full support,” says Michlmayr, who himself filed a police report yesterday. E-mails were sent to newspaper editors, including OÖN, in which Haager appeared against Michlmayr by name. All senders are fake.
