The Linz participants moved from the Volksgarten to the promenade in front of the country house. ÖGB women’s chairwoman Elfriede Schober referred to the increasingly precarious situation of single parents due to inflation, increases in energy, rent and food prices.
Rainer Wimmer, federal chairman of the PRO-GE trade union and chief wage negotiator of the ÖGB, clearly rejected the announcements made by employer representatives after a real wage loss in the upcoming negotiations of the metalworkers and called for a cap on energy prices.
Upper Austria’s ÖGB boss and AK President Andreas Stangl called on the Upper Austrian state government to support the citizens affected by the price increases. According to Stangl, there are a number of options for this, including the costs of after-school care for children.
