On Sunday at around 3:10 a.m. in Steinerkirchen an der Traun, police officers noticed a vehicle driver who was apparently driving too fast in the local area and got into the oncoming lane in a curve.
Therefore, the officers took up the pursuit and signaled the driver to stop. When the driver noticed this, he accelerated sharply and fled in the direction of Bad Wimsbach. Shortly thereafter, the driver, a 19-year-old probationary driver’s license holder from the Wels-Land district, came off the road, hit a guard rail and landed on a green area opposite with bushes and small trees.
The 19-year-old and his 18-year-old passenger from the Wels-Land district were slightly injured in the accident, but were able to free themselves from the vehicle wreckage. Both were taken to the Wels Clinic after the first aid. An alcohol test carried out on the 19-year-old showed a blood alcohol content of 2.12, and his driver’s license was provisionally taken away.
