Stadtchef gave deep insights at “Dialog Brunch”.

A respectful dialogue at eye level, in which new perspectives are to be made possible – that is the aim of the new series of events “Dialogue Brunch” in the Dominikanerhaus. At the start, manager Sabine Gamsjäger invited Mayor Markus Vogl to a sustainable and fair breakfast: “The variety of perspectives should make it possible to experience an expansion of one’s own world.” Topic of the – fully booked – morning with the mayor: “The vision of a good life for everyone”.

Vogl gave insights into his private happiness – fewer appointments, family, cooking together, garden, travel – but also, very politicians, prayed down the SP program and a performance show in the city. Nevertheless, the “Dialogue Brunch” was a successful start to the new series, in which the breakfast guests were able to directly and personally explore many of the city manager’s perspectives with their questions. The main topics were the climate crisis and how the city thinks of reacting to it, the concerns of many Steyr residents about how they can afford heating and food this winter despite rising costs, and the enormous, still unresolved challenges in care and health. Even if Vogl wasn’t able to answer everything – with his openness he was convincing this morning. And he gave some surprising answers: for example, that there could be a trial operation for a car-free town square next year, or that Steyr would like to build another inner-city heating plant for the expansion of district heating – on the Tabor? – need.

However, Vogl reaped protest for his statement that he simply reacted calmly to the noise of Sunday strollers, which was unbearable for many Steyr residents – if it would make them feel better if they were allowed to make a riot. This courting of an anti-social minority is the wrong signal from those in charge, criticized a listener who never wanted to and would never get used to these loud parades.

Part two of “Dialogue Brunch” will follow on Saturday, December 3rd at 9 a.m.: Heinz Mittermayr will then report on “human (in)right” and his work for refugees on Lesbos.
