The Austrian Youth Film Association, founded in 2016 on the initiative of the Innviertlers, is now serving a selection of in-house productions: “The best of five years of cinema history” will be shown on September 23 from 5.45 p.m. in the Star Movie Kino Ried-Tumeltsham with free admission, featuring the highlights from several works. Afterwards, the young filmmakers review their work since the association was founded and are available for discussions.
In recent years, filming has also taken place in the Innviertel, films have been made that could not be more different, according to the association. From horror and suspense to comedy, there is a lot represented, some films only last a few minutes, others are an hour long. The best of the entire work will be presented in a highlight cut on September 23. Among other things, “Trust” is one of the association’s first films to be seen in its entirety: At that time, the screenplays at the youth film association were still written in English.
Projects like “On us!” and “Escape” are already in German. “In the way the actors feel most comfortable, often in dialect.” After the screening in the Star Movie cinema, which begins at 5.45 p.m., there will be a panel discussion in which the audience can also ask questions. The main focus is on the history of the association, how it was founded and how it has developed up to the present day: how a leisure project by pupils from B(R)G Ried became its own association. Tickets for the event can be reserved free of charge at jugendfilmverband.at. Short films that have appeared in the recent past include “The Odyssey of Fraunz” and “Godfather”. According to the motto “Together in front of and behind the camera”, members of the youth film association worked together to transform the short films of two of their colleagues from the Ried district – Clemens Genböck and Alexander Hörl – from the script into moving pictures. The locations included public and private properties in the Innviertel. In addition to houses and apartments in Utzenaich, the shooting took place in the Rieder Stadtpark and on the quieter streets of Neuhofen – of course with permission, according to the project planners. In addition, an inn in Schildorn was staged.
