The Innviertler Oktoberfest got off to a great start with thousands of visitors on the grounds of the Rieder exhibition center in the middle of the week – wet and cool weather set in towards the weekend, but thanks to the many covered areas, the many visitors did not let their party mood be spoiled.
“Of course, the low temperatures, wind and rain had an impact on the general frequency and cost visitors. The fact that the culinary area with many stands in the Red Zac Arena is completely covered has had a positive effect. The concept fits, the organization works went well – just like everything else that could be influenced. You can’t do anything about the bad luck with the weather,” says Exhibition Director Helmut Slezak.
The marquee with space for 2000 guests was always full in the evenings. “We could have allocated all the tables in advance based on the rush to reserve. But we deliberately keep tables free for spontaneous visitors. It went extremely well in Ried – as we are used to from there,” says host Patrick Stützner. The wine hall and bar zone also attracted visitors to their own halls, regardless of the weather. On a 3,000 square meter covered open area, different stands prepared food and were enjoyed in small “guest gardens”. Almost 100 exhibitors worked hard in Ried, an amusement park attracted visitors with a wide range from the Ferris wheel, ghost train, autodrome and chain carousel to fast-paced rides such as Tagada, Break Dance and Panic for an adrenaline rush.
“The concept for the festival fits,” says Slezak. Only the weather proved to be a fun brake, especially in the outdoor area, also for the showmen. The Wels amusement park professional Ludwig Rieger was in action with seven rides at the Innviertler Oktoberfest: Unfortunately, the longer dry phases he had hoped for over the weekend did not materialize.
Nevertheless, the Oktoberfest in Ried was celebrated for five days with free entry. The OÖ Nachrichten accompanied the popular festival as a media partner – as did the traditional Braunau Autumn Fair, which attracted free entry at the weekend with around 100 exhibitors from the region and neighboring Bavaria, including a marquee and amusement park. Living, building, furnishing and e-mobility were the focus. (sedi)
