Organizers set date for January Rally 2023

A rally season without winter horsepower action in the Freistadt district. That was a sad reality for many motorsport fans in 2021 and 2022. A cancellation in 2021 was followed by a postponement to February this year and then the cancellation again. For January 2023, the Rallye Club Mühlviertel expects the traditional event to return. From Thursday, January 5th to Saturday, January 7th – as announced on Monday – the state championship run will be held as usual in the Freistadt area.

On the morning of January 5th, the usual “shakedown” will take place in Oberrauchenödt, before a special stage as the official opening in the afternoon and the driver presentation in the Freistadt exhibition hall in the evening. The total of 17 special stages with 170 kilometers of evaluation will be spread over twelve communities. The award ceremony for the “LKW Friends on the road January rally powered by Wimberger”, as the rally is officially called, is finally planned for Saturday, January 7th, from 6 p.m. again in the Freistadt exhibition hall.

The joy at the return of the January rally can be felt both in the Rallye Club Mühlviertel and among the many participants around Freistadt, says chairman Christian Birklbauer: “We are already in contact with the responsible authorities. Discussions are going very well and we are looking forward to finally seeing top-class rallying again next winter.”
