No time

The majority of those who do not exercise give a lack of time as the main reason for not doing sports. A lack of motivation and disinterest in sport are also among the most frequently cited reasons. On the other hand, the physically active Europeans are happy about an improvement in their own health and fitness level or are looking for relaxation during training.

Half prefer to exercise outside

In the last survey in 2017, 46 percent of those surveyed stated that they did not do any sport. The number of people who refuse to exercise has therefore fallen slightly. A new tendency, possibly increased by the corona pandemic, is that almost a third of those surveyed now prefer to train at home. Half of the respondents prefer outdoor activities.

According to the information, most citizens between the ages of 15 and 24 train with a share of 54 percent. Among the 25 to 39 year olds it is only 42 percent, among the 40 to 54 year olds around 32 percent and among the over 55 year olds only 21 percent.
