Boat stolen in the Amstetten district: thieves caught on A1

According to the state police headquarters in Lower Austria, they were traveling with a vehicle combination whose trailer and boat had been stolen from a hall in Strengberg (Amstetten district). The 65-year-old driver and his passenger (18), both Hungarian citizens, confessed. They were reported to the public prosecutor’s office in St. Pölten.

The man at the wheel of the small truck initially stated in the early hours of Saturday morning that he had bought the trailer and boat in Germany. According to the police, however, he was unable to provide any relevant evidence. The resulting investigations into possible theft were successful.

According to a balance sheet, 69 vehicles were checked during the main action of the Lower Austria provincial transport department, department for goods transport and heavy goods traffic, and the motorway police inspectors in Altlengbach, Krems and Melk together with technical officials from the office of the Lower Austrian provincial government. At 21, such serious technical defects were found that the number plates had to be temporarily removed. The drivers and the registration owners expect ads, according to the state police department.

In most of the vehicles complained about, the trailer brakes were defective and in many cases even non-functional. Furthermore, the frames were often broken, and significant damage to tires and suspensions was also found. According to the police, the vehicle combination with the stolen trailer and boat was also “recognisably in poor technical condition”.
