Marie Gamillscheg from Graz, the South Korean-Austrian author Anna Kim (“Story of a Child”) and Reinhard Kaiser-Mühlecker (“Poacher”) from Eberstalzell in Upper Austria did not make it onto the shortlist. However, the last two still have a chance of winning the Austrian Book Prize, the shortlist of which will be announced on October 11th. Kaiser-Mühlecker has also been nominated for the Bavarian Book Prize. In 2021, the German Book Prize went to Antje Rávik Strubel for “Blue Woman”.
