A fitness and a quiet zone, gastronomy, a green roof and offices for a variable and flexible way of working (video conferences, focus and creative rooms): These offers are planned in the new headquarters, which the Linz IT specialist MIC is having built in Lederergasse . The project has been submitted. If the approval process goes as planned, construction is expected to begin this year. “Completion is planned for the first quarter of 2024,” said Ursula Schöneborn-Siligan, responsible for finance and law, yesterday. She presented the plans together with managing director Alfred Hiebl, planning councilor Dietmar Prammer and mayor Klaus Luger.
Kamleitner & Kraupa used to process game meat on the 10,000 square meter area. Now MIC is building a five-storey building (plus underground car park) in a wood-hybrid construction on an area of 4300 square meters. Hiebl assumes costs of around 40 million euros. Up to 40 percent of employees can work from home. No fixed workplaces will be assigned in the new building: these can be booked.
Due to the strong growth, they had been looking for a sustainable solution for some time, says Hiebl: 500 people are employed, 400 of them in Linz. The current headquarters remain the property as a “space reserve”.
Founded in 1988, MIC has made a name for itself in the customs software niche. With its solutions, the company supports 700 customers in 55 countries worldwide in handling import and export processes and complying with regulations. Customers include numerous corporations, one focus of MIC is the automotive sector.
More than 90 percent of sales are generated abroad. This was around 50 million euros in 2021 and, according to Hiebl, should increase by ten to 15 percent this year.
