The Minister of Health, Ximena Aguilera, justified the decision by pointing out that the Covid-19 figures exhibited in recent weeks have been favorable, after observing “a decrease in positivity”, while high vaccination coverage has been achieved. .
The elimination of the mobility pass and the increase in capacity allowed in different spaces from next October 1 was also announced.
Since the vaccination plan began, at the end of 2020, 62.2 million doses have been administered, including the first dose and another three booster doses to reach the full schedule.
The mobility pass was implemented in mid-2021 so that citizens can prove that they are correctly vaccinated, but with the new update it will be discontinued. This digital card will no longer be required of citizens to enter different venues, although it is not ruled out that it may be used in the future.
“It has been a tool that has allowed us to promote vaccination, but we will have the possibility of requiring it again depending on how the epidemiological situation evolves,” Aguilera explained.
In relation to the capacity, that is, the limit of people in spaces according to their dimensions and conditions (outdoors or closed), will be eliminated, and instead the ventilation of said spaces will be promoted.
On the other hand, the health authorities indicated that they will maintain their testing strategy through PCR tests and antigen tests, in addition to the active search for cases with operations in different neighborhoods of the country.
Regarding the isolation of positive cases, the Government indicated that health residences will be maintained for those who must isolate themselves and cannot, while the isolation period will be reduced from seven to five days.
Regarding the protection at the borders, the authorities confirmed that the random testing of passengers at the Santiago airport continues, although with a decrease in passengers to be analyzed.
As of March 3, 2020, Chile adds a total of 4,590,421 positive cases of Covid-19 with more than 60,000 deaths caused by the virus. According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health, 9,395 are patients in the active stage.
