AMAG bridge will be erected soon

AMAG is building a bridge for cyclists and pedestrians in Braunau to make it safer for them to cross the B156 in the area of the works entrance. 1.5 million euros are invested, with the aluminum group bearing most of the costs itself.

Lockdown on October 3rd

The construction is progressing, the supporting structure is prepared, on October 3rd the 40 ton heart of the bridge will be mounted on the piers provided.

In the course of this work, the B156 will be completely closed in the affected area on Monday, October 3rd, which is expected to last from 6 p.m. to midnight. Temporary traffic stops have also been announced for October 3rd to 5th, among other things, forestry work will be carried out in the area of the construction site.

More than 10,000 vehicles a day are on the affected section of the B156, and the trend is rising. With the construction of the bicycle and pedestrian bridge, AMAG is making a significant contribution to safety in the area of the factory entrance and is promoting non-motorized mobility. “Safety awareness is our top priority and doesn’t end at the factory boundary,” says Gerald Mayer, CEO of AMAG. Neighboring companies also benefit from the new crossing aid. Completion of the bridge is scheduled for late October/early November.

A bridge will be built from recyclable aluminum and wood, mostly from the AMAG forest. The ramp will be backfilled with lifting material from previous construction work. “This is a project close to our hearts that we have been working on for a long time. Cycling is an important topic for us,” said Bettina Gupfinger from AMAG service back in the spring. There is also a bicycle network in the factory that is used by many. “So the colleagues not only come to work by bike, they also ride their bikes in the factory.”

Motorists also benefit from the new bridge closing the gap to the existing public cycle paths – cyclists no longer cross the B156 directly, but will soon have a crossing aid.
