“The strokes of fate never end in the Eglseder family. A few years ago, single mother Marianne lost her middle daughter in a serious car accident. As a result, the 22-year-old younger daughter Yvonne gave birth to her disabled son Niklas. The mother, who was already badly marked, also had to cope with this task. And the next low blow that befell the family was not long in coming: Yvonne was diagnosed with a brain tumor,” says Walter Pechmann, the family’s neighbor: “Some time ago I had the impulse to take action for the Eglseders . But now the point has been reached where something has to be done for this family,” he says. On October 26th, in the neighboring communities of Aigen-Schlägl and St. Oswald, an exercise day will take place under the motto “Paths of Happiness”.

“Let’s go part of the way together with Yvonne and Niklas,” Pechmann invites. Anyone who wants can either run, walk or choose a 25-kilometer bike ride. Own “Paths of Happiness” T-shirts are printed and sold. With a voluntary entry fee or a starter package you can do your part for the family, because all the income goes to them. Walter Pechmann obviously ran into open doors with the idea: “One thing led to another. Everyone immediately agreed to help, everyone offered to help. Everything for sale is sponsored. In this way, every cent that is taken can go to the family,” says the organizer, together with the mayors Elisabeth Höfler and Heidemarie Silber. But what particularly impresses them is the solidarity and the wave of helpfulness and compassion, which is taking on ever greater dimensions.
Incidentally, the start is on Wednesday, October 26th, at 10 a.m. at the fire station in Aigen or at the fire station in St. Oswald.
