Steel Wings got their first point in Lustenau

In a first section balanced in terms of shots on goal, neither the guests nor the hosts were able to take anything countable with them. Dominik Oberscheider gave the favored hosts a 1-0 lead in the second half (31st). Almost six minutes later, the people of Linz had a good answer ready. Manuel Feldbaumer completed an attack to equalize 1-1.

This score remained until the final whistle after 60 minutes. An overtime was needed to decide who gets the extra point credited to the table account. Chris D’Alvise needed just 2:12 minutes in overtime to finally decide the game.

“I’m really proud of the team today. They worked as a team throughout the game. We deserved 2 more points and not just 1. If we continue like this, sooner or later we will win as winners and with 3 points from the ice. The boys were the better team,” said coach Matej Hocevar after the game.

Despite the point won, the Steel Wings are still in last place in the Alps Hockey League.

The Steel Wings started with a 1:3 defeat in Val Gardena at HC Gherdeina. By the way, defender Patrick Söllinger scored the Linz goal. A week later, the Steel Wings had to admit defeat to the Sterzing Broncos 3:4 at home. Arturs Brikmanis, Lorenz Lindner and Karlis Bucenieks steered Linz’s goals.

The rest of the game schedule gives the people of Linz six home games in a row until mid-October: Tomorrow the Steel Wings will welcome the KAC Future Team in the Linz-AG-Eisarena. This is followed by home games against Kitzbühel, Salzburg, Cortina, Jesenice and Bregenzerwald.
