Dart: Two world records are supposed to fall in Ried today

“We want to set two world records,” says Robert Scherzer, chairman of the Wels darts club. The club, which has ten different teams – including in the Bundesliga – is 15 years old this year. Reason enough to possibly make an entry in the record book. The records should succeed this afternoon in the stadium village of the Josko Arena. Eleven players from DSV 14-1 Wels and eleven kickers from SV Guntamatic Ried compete to score as many points as possible in a playing time of 2 x 45 minutes. The game is played on a total of eleven dart machines. A team consists of a dart professional and a SV Ried kicker. Admission is from 12.30 p.m., after an official welcome, the kick-off will be at 2.15 p.m. Admission and drinks are free, but donations are welcome.

“The goal is to set a world record with 22 men. We want to score at least 250,000 points in these 90 minutes,” says Scherzer, whose club has already brought a European team title to Wels.

It will be interesting to see how well the Rieder kickers have adjusted their sights on the dartboard. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as desired on the green lawn recently. This is followed by a second world record attempt, which is closely monitored by a notary and the President of the Upper Austrian Darts Association, among others.

An exact video recording must also be made so that a possible world record is also officially recognized afterwards. “We want to throw 530 rounds with eight players within an hour. The current world record is 35,087 points. So we have to get at least one point more, that’s going to be a really big challenge,” says Scherzer.

Donation for the heart children

In addition to the great sporting challenges, the focus is primarily on charitable purposes. There will be a raffle with great prizes. The net proceeds of the event will benefit the “Herzkinder Österreich” association. “We have already received a fixed donation of 10,000 euros from our corporate partners and sponsors, for which we are very grateful. Our goal would be to achieve a total of 15,000 euros,” says Scherzer.
