The fire broke out around 5:15 p.m. in the residential building in the Doppl district. A mother was still in the apartment with her three children at the time. When the Hart, Leonding and Rufling fire brigades arrived at the scene, the family had already made it to safety. A respiratory protection team fought their way to the seat of the fire and extinguished the flames. The fire caused two floors of smoke to erupt in the building.
The mother had to be cared for by the Red Cross and then taken to a hospital. The children were not injured and were cared for by the fire brigade and the Red Cross until their grandparents arrived. One of the house cats did not survive the fire.
The apartment was so badly damaged by the smoke that it is temporarily uninhabitable. What caused the fire is still unclear.
