Linzerin found dead in the basement: no evidence of external influence

Beatrix H. was missing for 16 days. The 53-year-old was found dead in a basement compartment last Monday. In the apartment building in Linz-Ebelsberg from which she disappeared on September 2nd.

The circumstances are puzzling: The basement in which the woman was lying in a sleeping bag in an unlocked compartment when she was found is used by residents of two apartment buildings. There is also a laundry room in it. “What is certain is that the woman was already dead for several days before she was found,” said Ulrike Breiteneder, spokeswoman for the Linz public prosecutor’s office.

The public prosecutor’s office in Linz ordered an autopsy, the result of which is now available: There is no evidence of external influence, and third-party negligence is therefore excluded. However, the exact cause of death remains unclear. A toxicological report was commissioned. “But the result will take several weeks to come,” says Breiteneder.
