Most recently, a 67-year-old was killed in Vöcklabruck: the man from the Vöcklabruck district forgot his ATM card in a shop. The perpetrators spied out the PIN code when paying and took the card with them.
The police suspect two female people who may have already struck in Wels, Linz, St. Georgen im Attergau, Gmunden, Pregarten, Vorchdorf and Dornbin with a similar approach. The total damage is in the five-digit euro range.
The perpetrators mainly target older people and are mainly active in the early morning hours or in the mornings in grocery stores. The victim is usually observed entering the PIN code and engaged in a conversation in the parking lot. The perpetrators use this opportunity to get hold of the bank card. A short time later they withdraw cash.
