Recalling that his country adheres to the “non-interference” principle, he said that China “has made efforts to solve the problems of all parties in a constructive manner.”
Beijing has insistently repeated its support for the sovereignty of all countries in relation to Ukraine, but has refused to condemn the Russian invasion of that former Soviet republic.
In March, China’s permanent representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, said that his country “has always maintained that it is necessary to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries”, although “legitimate concerns about the security” of all parties.
