Women steal seniors ATM card – manhunt

With mug shots, the police are looking for at least two women after a series of ATM card thefts. The suspects are said to have stolen ATM cards from several people and used them to withdraw cash. The damage amounts to a total of 20,000 euros, the most recent case occurred in Vöcklabruck. They are said to have stolen 3,000 euros with the ATM card of a 67-year-old man. The police are asking for information.

Always the same pattern

The thieves always follow the same pattern. According to the police, they prefer to select older victims who shop in grocery stores in the early morning or mid-morning hours. The perpetrators spy out the PIN code while paying and then use a trick to steal the card, for example by distracting the people at the checkout by engaging them in a conversation or asking for small change. The women immediately withdraw larger amounts of cash.
