Illegal techno party in the middle of the forest: Expensive aftermath for party-goers

There, where fox and rabbit say good night, 200 techno fans celebrated an illegal party at the weekend: In a forest clearing in the middle of the extensive Weilhartsforst in the south-western Innviertel, a professionally organized party took place on Saturday night – and after consultation with the district authority, it was canceled by the Police stopped early around 3:30 in the morning.

Organized across Austria

Only a private forest path with many branches leads to the clearing where the party took place. “You have to know that, a scout must have been out and about here and discovered the clearing. We know that this group is well organized throughout Austria, such parties appear again and again in Austria,” says Volker Landsfried, department head in Hochburg-Ach. Among the party people were people from Linz, Wels, Lower Austria and people from Styria. The organizers probably managed little by little to set up a stage and a bar on the site. In the seclusion, even the numerous arriving cars went unnoticed.

Because a Hochburg-Acher heard music from the forest at night, he became suspicious and called the police. “First we turned off the music, hired more people and then started to register the 200 people,” says Landsfried. Not an easy task, especially since most of the guests were drunk. With more police patrols, a service dog and a drone, it was possible to put an end to the forest party. The operation was laborious and lasted until nine o’clock in the morning. “It took a while before everyone was registered, the site was cleared and cleaned and the cars were picked up, because most of them were no longer able to drive themselves,” says the police officer.

Visiting the techno party is now becoming an expensive pleasure. Numerous reports were filed, including for disturbance of order. According to the police, the owner of the clearing also wants to take legal action against the organizers. The techno party should therefore not only be expensive for the organizer, but for each individual guest, with a penalty of several hundred euros to be expected. “For that reason alone, you should consider whether or not to attend such an illegal event in the future,” says Landsfried.
