Building permission for the monastery area is now available

As reported, the project had to be presented to the design advisory board four times before it was given the green light in February 2021. The building permit for the project is now in place, and the notice contains a separate requirement for the protection of the townscape, as stated by the responsible building and district administration.

From the initial submission to the design advisory board to the approved concept, the plans have changed significantly. The high-rise project, which was heavily criticized in 2017 – this resulted in the founding of the “Zukunft Klostergarten” initiative and a cooperative planning process for the Kapuzinerviertel – has long been history.

Instead, offices with around 300 workstations and a company kindergarten were planned, and a meeting room is planned for the listed chapel, which must be preserved. The former church is to be multifunctional with gastronomy and events. A two-storey extension is to be built on the monastery wing, which is to be connected to a six-storey new building behind it.
