Zelensky refused to negotiate with Russia after the referendums

“Russia’s recognition of ‘pseudo-referendums’ as ‘normal’, the application” of the same plan as in Crimea, is a new attempt to annex a part of Ukrainian territory, which means that we will not negotiate with the current Russian presidentZelensky said.

The president transmitted that message, through a video, to the UN Security Counciland thus removed the chance to open talks with the invading country.

Zelensky spoke before the announcements of the first results of the annexation referendums in the Ukrainian regions of Kherson, Zaporizhia and Lugansk, where the Yes to the annexation to Russia won widely, according to local pro-Russian authorities.

To these results, revealed yesterday, was added today the victory of the Yes also in Donetsk, in the Ukrainian Donbas, always according to pro-Russian officials.

For Zelensky, it was “a farce” with results “arranged beforehand” and the eventual annexation of these regions would be “the most brutal violation of the United Nations Charter,” the AFP agency reported.

The president considered that Russia should “be excluded from all international organizations” for its actions, or at least be suspended.
