Abuse case in Vienna: No investigations into alleged accomplices

This was announced by authority spokeswoman Judith Ziska on Wednesday afternoon. The Viennese lawyer Herta Bauer, who claims to represent several victims, reported the two men on September 26th.

In Bauer’s presentation of the facts, the suspicion of sexual abuse of minors and abuse of a relationship of authority was expressed. The two long-time acquaintances of the sports teacher – a former student of the pedagogue and a former teacher at another school and basketball coach – were “smuggled” into a sports club and would have behaved violently towards children and young people there, the suspicion was.

No concrete initial suspicion

After examining the initial suspicion, however, the prosecution came to the conclusion that the current suspicion is not sufficient for a criminal investigation. “The suspicions expressed are based on anonymous reports and assumptions, which alone cannot give rise to any concrete initial suspicion in the direction of a criminal act,” explained authority spokeswoman Ziska. The public prosecutor is currently not aware of any victims.

“Should there be victims, they are invited to contact the victim protection authorities or the security authorities,” emphasized the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office. In this case, the situation would of course be re-examined.
