Pilot project for daily exercise at school

Pilot project for daily exercise at school

With the start of this school year a few weeks ago, the starting signal was given for a pilot project, with which a daily exercise unit is to be introduced step by step in our schools. Test operations are running in ten regions, in Upper Austria these are the districts of Rohrbach and the Urfahr area.

Yesterday, Sports Minister Werner Kogler (Greens) and Education Minister Martin Polaschek (VP) presented details of the pilot project, which is to be rolled out across Austria in two years. Instead of the daily gymnastics lesson that has been discussed for so long, a daily movement unit (also outside of classic gymnastics lessons) is now to be integrated into the lessons. Around 1,100 classes and groups of children in kindergartens are taking part in the pilot project, which enables 70,000 additional exercise units, said Sports Minister Kogler.

The major sports umbrella organizations with exercise trainers are also involved in the project.
