Ideas and products for a healthier planet, whether in terms of fashion, nutrition or everything in between – that’s what you’ll find today and tomorrow at the sustainability fair presented by the OÖ Nachrichten “WeFair” to discover in the Linz Design Center.
“Reloop” is one of the companies that are taking people off the path “Too much of” and wants to point towards targeted, sustainable consumption. “We free people from the thought of what to pack”, says founder Klem Cioata-Kowalczyk, originally from Poland. This is made possible by one made from organic materials “capsule wardrobe”, in German: capsule wardrobe. Everything in the collection can be combined with each other, t-shirts can be worn in different ways. With six elements – three tops, two bottoms and an extra piece of clothing – the wardrobe should be in the suitcase for two weeks. If something gets dirty – the materials dry quickly. “The aim is for people to later switch to ‘capsule wardrobes’ at home and generally buy less.”

Behind the WeFair is a non-profit association supported by the three non-governmental organizations Global 2000, Südwind and Klimabündnis Österreich. Climate Alliance Managing Director Norbert Rainer attends the 15th sustainability fair in a jacket that he wore at the first, then still known as “WearFair” titled fair bought. “It’s all about value and appreciation”he says and describes the idea behind the founding of the fair: “Get out of the renunciation corner, into sustainable pleasure.”
Wash sustainably
“A totally simple solution to a major environmental problem” WeFair Managing Director Wolfgang Pfoser-Almer is enthusiastic: a wash bag from the Berlin company Langbrett called Guppyfriend. In this, synthetic materials are put into the washing machine and the microplastic particles that break off are then caught in it and thus prevented from entering the groundwater.
Karin and Bernhard Geyer-Nittnaus from Gols in Burgenland have teamed up with their “Spezerey” specialized in vegetable and fruit rarities. Their “Wild Vermouth” from 25 Pannonian steppe herbs, they offer curious people to taste. The Mühlviertler company “lighter” is already a regular WeFair exhibitor with its organic chili sauces and one of 55 companies from Upper Austria presenting themselves at the fair. Whether jewelry made from stamps and old typewriter keys by the Viennese label “Sophie Soufflé”T-shirts and hats made from fabric made by the couple from Salzburg “lucky child” or organic treats for quick meals in the form of vegetable rolls or dumplings “morning dew”: The “WeFair” is a “Greenwashing-free zone”as Managing Director Pfoser-Almer emphasizes: “With us you can shop with a clear conscience, all exhibitors are carefully checked.”

Next year the “WeFair” on the third attempt after two postponements due to the pandemic, finally dare to make the leap to Vienna: From April 14 to 16, 2023, the fair will celebrate its premiere in the capital in the large Marx Halle.
