The official attached a video showing the wrecked bus and another damaged vehicle in a queue of cars.
“Ambulance teams quickly arrived at the scene and provided emergency medical assistance to the victims,” he added, quoted by the AFP news agency.
The Ministry of Health of the region, recently annexed by Russia, also indicated in its official Telegram account that the event took place at 7:05 local time (1:05 Argentine time) and warned that the balance of victims is preliminary.
He also stressed that the attack was carried out with a multiple launch rocket system (HIMARS), delivered to the Ukrainian forces by the United States, and added that there are several patients hospitalized due to the impact of shrapnel. The Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
On the other hand, the vice president of the Military and Civil Administration of Kherson, Kiril Stremusov, denounced in statements to the Russian news agency Tass the execution of 16 people at the hands of the Ukrainian forces in the town of Velika Aleksandrovka.
“Now we have information about the execution of 16 people in Velika Aleksandrovka. The Nazis took men and women out without explanation, put them against a wall and executed them. People saw it with their own eyes,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin promulgated on Wednesday the accession treaties of the Ukrainian separatist and Russian-speaking regions Donetsk and Lugansk, as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, all of them partially occupied by Russian forces, and after two separate referendums held two weeks ago, despite the claims of Ukraine’s allies challenging the illegality of the consultations.
Ukrainian forces have been conducting a counter-offensive in this Russian-controlled region since the first weeks of the war, and to that end have attacked bridges in the region on several occasions to disrupt Russian forces’ logistical supply.
Pro-Russian separatists fighting alongside Moscow’s forces in Ukraine said today they had captured three villages near the eastern city of Bakhmut.
According to the Telegram account of the Donetsk separatist stronghold fighters, the towns seized are Otradivka, Vesela Dolina and Zaitseve. The Russian army had yesterday announced the capture of Zaitseve in its daily report.
The three municipalities are located south of the city of Bakhmut, controlled by Ukrainian forces and which the Russian army has been trying unsuccessfully to conquer for months.
These conquests, however, take place in the midst of the difficulties that the Russian army is going through due to the counteroffensive launched by the Ukrainian troops at the beginning of September, which until now has allowed them to retake -says Kiev- almost the entire Kharkov region, in the northeast, hundreds of square kilometers of southern Kherson and also eastern Limán, an important logistics center.
The head of the Donetsk separatists, Denis Pushilin, said today that the situation near Liman remained “the most difficult” in the region and that Russian troops would be building a defense line near Kreminna, further east.
“The enemy tests our defense line day and night, and it could be said that the front line is stabilizing,” he explained.
“I think we have the chance to accumulate forces and begin to liberate territories with new reserves,” he added, announcing the dispatch of reinforcements but without specifying where they came from or whether they were the reservists mobilized by Moscow to try to stop the multiple Ukrainian advances.
