Among the items that the 40 divers and helpers retrieved from the bottom of the lake were wood, metal parts, bottles, cans, towels, tarpaulins, mobile phones and swimming trunks. It was dived at a depth of up to four meters. The rubbish taken from the lake was then disposed of. The motto of the campaign was: “Be a superheroine for Klagenfurt”. The autumn cleaning on Lake Wörthersee was also supported by the Austrian Federal Forests, which have already carried out such campaigns in more than 70 lakes throughout Austria.
Behind the lake cleaning campaign on Friday is the newly created “superhero” app from Stadtwerke Klagenfurt. At the end of August, the lake cleaning campaign as part of the app was chosen as the first winning project. It has been announced that there will be more projects in the future.
