A resident had alerted the emergency services: in front of her house, strangers had rolled a boundary stone weighing at least 180 kilograms out of a meadow onto the Bogendorf municipal road, probably at night, in the middle of a crossing area. None of the neighbors had noticed anything about the negligent action.
The situation was particularly dangerous due to the weather conditions. “It was very foggy during the night and also in the morning. The stone could easily have been overlooked,” says Roman Pöttinger, commander of the Neukirchen/Enknach volunteer fire brigade, in an interview with the Upper Austria News. Fortunately, the road is very little traffic. “But the stone weighs at least 180 kilos, if not more. We’re far from kidding,” says Pöttinger. Together with the employees of the municipal building yard, he transported the lump back to the side of the road.
The same stone had already been heaved into the middle of a driveway by unknown persons in July.
