Salzburg’s B-Elf returned to winning ways in Altach

After two 1-1 draws against Rapid and LASK, the “Bulls” with their “B-Elf” made it 3-2 (0-0) in Altach again and increased the lead over the first pursuer, Sturm Graz, at least until Sunday to five points. Maximilian Wöber (52nd), Sekou Koita (59th) and Junior Adamu (72nd) ensured the work victory on deep Altach soil.

The hosts equalized through Alexis Tibidi (57′) and scored the goal through Atdhe Nuhiu (78′). However, the brave performance of Miroslav Klose’s team was not rewarded a week after the small liberation against Ried. On Sunday, the tail light from the Innviertel in Wolfsberg could catch up with Altach in terms of points if they win.

In view of the guest appearance in Zagreb next Tuesday, Jaissle rotated his team almost beyond recognition. Seven starting factors from the 1-0 win against Zagreb didn’t even make the trip to the country. Apart from goalie Philipp Köhn and midfield long-runner Maurits Kjaergaard, nine new players were found on the field. Including Vice-Captain Wöber, who was “banished” to the bench against Dinamo, on the left in the back four.

The “bulls” were more troubled by the heavy rain than the new formation. It was extremely difficult to create chances against Altach, who were in good shape. The most dangerous situation before the break came from the home side. After a nice attack, Köhn had to parry against Nuhiu, but the ball still found its way towards the goal, where Kamil Piatkowski apparently only scraped it out of the box behind the line. After a VAR consultation, the supposed 1-0 was not given.

Salzburg was initially unable to get beyond a long-range shot (21st) and a blocked attempt (27th) by Sekou Koita, who acted behind the leaders Roko Simic and Junior Adamu, and was repeatedly busy stopping Altach’s offensive actions. After a clear foul by Jan Jurcec in the penalty area on Koita, a penalty was also claimed – without success (24th).

The early stages of the second half brought not only a slackening of the rain, but also a lot of momentum. Immediately after the restart, Köhn had to intervene in a Nuhiu-Köpfler (47th), but the guests scored the first goal. First Koita failed from short distance due to his poor ball acceptance, a little later he prepared the 1:0: Roko Simic processed his cross into the penalty area to assist Wöber, who didn’t give goalie Tino Casali a chance from a good ten meters.

But the Vorarlbergers were not impressed by this, five minutes later Tibidi spurted through the central defense after a hole pass and ensured the equalizer with a shot into the far corner. It went in quick succession. Koita himself restored the lead after a short-distance cross with a volley, about a quarter of an hour and a mistake by Altach in the build-up, then Adamu poked the ball over the line for a preliminary decision. Even if Nuhiu made it exciting again with a header after a cross. Substitute Benjamin Sesko missed the preliminary decision for Salzburg in the hectic seven-minute stoppage time with a shot from the pole (93′).
