Bernhard Steiner, President of the organizing TSV Ottensheim, even spoke of luck with the weather. Because at the end of the run for the adults the sun came out, at the award ceremony, which has traditionally taken place outdoors since Corona, it was pleasantly warm, said Steiner in the OÖN interview.
It went very well this year, even if the competition at running events in the central area is generally high, especially in autumn. What Steiner was particularly happy about was a record number of participants in the children’s marathon, which had filled the stands (and running tracks) in the Ottensheim stadium in the morning. In the end, 300 children were on the move, which Steiner particularly liked for another reason. “We want to encourage the children to run, and if they manage to keep running, then they might come back to us later as adults.”
The Donaulauf Ottensheim was accident-free, the 70 to 80 volunteers made their contribution to the smooth running of the event. In the main run, the half marathon, Gerald Steindl (1:20:09) for the men and Pia Lilian Madlener (1:31:45) for the women entered the list of winners. (rgr)
