The family of 7 gets a potent addition

A few months after the world premiere of the all-electric luxury class sedan i7, the Munich-based company is expanding the range of engines in the 7 series in November with two plug-in hybrid variants and a diesel for frequent drivers.

The drive in the BMW 750e xDrive consists of a six-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor, the system output is 360 kW (490 hp) and the maximum torque is 700 Newton meters. Thanks to a battery with a capacity of 18.7 kilowatt hours (kWh), according to BMW, the purely electric range is up to 85 kilometers.

First plug-in hybrid from “M”

The second 7-series model with PHEV drive goes one step further: 571 hp system output and 800 Newton meters system torque are in the technical data sheet for the M760e xDrive. This is also the first plug-in hybrid model from the particularly sporty BMW sub-brand “M”.

The diesel 740d xDrive uses 48-volt mild hybrid technology. The system output here is 300 hp, the maximum torque is 670 Newton meters. The Bavarians state the consumption of the six-cylinder diesel engine as 6.1 to 6.8 liters per 100 kilometers – which corresponds to CO2 emissions of 160 to 178 grams per kilometer.
